Course description

A Class A CDL is the most comprehensive type of commercial driver’s license in the United States. It permits drivers to operate tractor-trailers, 18-wheelers, truck and trailer combinations, double and triple trailers, tanker vehicles, livestock carriers, and flatbeds. With the proper endorsements, it may also allow operation of some Class B and Class C vehicles, making it highly versatile for commercial driving careers.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license: Must hold a current non-commercial driver’s license.
  • Age requirements: Typically at least 21 years old for interstate driving; some states allow intrastate driving at 18.
  • Medical fitness: Pass a DOT-approved medical examination to ensure you are physically capable of operating commercial vehicles.
  • Clean driving record: No major violations or serious accidents.
